3 Ways You Can Can Show Extraction Methods on a Cannabis Menu

What are some merchandising regulations your dispensary has to follow?

How cannabis is sold and how we communicate cannabis product information is very different depending on the province or state the bud is sold in. One thing we all have in common among each state and province is finding ways to navigate around and overcome regulatory challenges.

Each province and state has very different regulations and rules when it comes to merchandising cannabis. To name a few examples, in Alberta, cannabis retailers can’t show THC percentage on their website cannabis menus, in Massachusetts, dispensaries aren’t allowed to have discounted ‘sales’ but are allowed to have discounted bundles, and in Canada, you can’t advertise a cannabis product’s effects as can in the United States.

Our most recent discovery was finding out that in Massachusetts when merchandising cannabis concentrates, tinctures, topicals, vapes, edibles, and beverages you have to show each product’s extraction method.

Here at BudSense, we make selling weed easy and when it comes to merchandising cannabis, there is no one size fits all solution. This is why we build our cannabis menu software to be flexible and adaptive to meet the needs of each province or state’s regulatory challenges.

In this blog, we thought we’d get creative using our dispensary menu software to show 3 ways you can communicate extraction methods on your dispensary menus.

  1. Extraction Method Badges on Cannabis Menus

One way you can show your cannabis products extraction method on your dispensary menus is through the use of BudSense’s Badges. With BudSense’s Badges, you can show whether a product was made by using a Butane, Carbon Dioxide, Ethanol, Isopropyl, or Solventless extraction method. Here, we used the menu background to add a legend at the bottom of the menu to better communicate each extraction method on this concentrates cannabis menu.

You can also use Badges to communicate the product’s cannabinoids, plant type, flavours, effects, category, and terpenes. You can also create your own custom badges.

Use Badges and a Legend to show if a product is Butane, CO2, Ethanol, or Solventless

2. Extraction Method Labels on Cannabis Menus

Just like Badges, there is an infinite amount of ways in which you can use Labels on your cannabis menus. To name a few Labels you can place on products on your menu, you can use Labels that read High THC, Best Seller, Staff Picks, New, Last Change, Organic, Classification. Using BudSense’s dispensary menu software, we thought we’d share an example of a menu that uses extraction methods on Labels.

3. Extraction Method Section Titles on Cannabis Menus

In our last merchandising example, we wanted to share with you how you can use a cannabis menu section title to communicate your cannabis product extraction methods. In this example, we compiled all the products that use each extraction method and titled the with the extraction method used to create that product.
